Stock cars made their appearance in Algeria in 1953 with the first race at the El Biar stadium. This discipline is then practiced in other stadiums in Algeria such as that of Bogholine (Ex Saint Eugène). This discipline, which attracted many curious people, did not last long, particularly due to the outbreak of the Algerian War in 1954. After independence, stock cars were already a thing of the past.
During the 1950s, Algeria also had a motoball championship.
