Ferrari has officially acquired a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra for in-house calibration, marking the first time a Chinese vehicle has entered the Maranello gates for research and development. This move comes as Ferrari prepares to debut its first electric supercar, tentatively called the "Elettrica," in spring 2026, entering uncharted territory after more than 70 years of crafting naturally aspirated performance icons.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra isn't just any EV; it currently holds the Nürburgring electric production car lap record with a time of 7:04.957, beating the Porsche Taycan by nearly three seconds. It features a triple-motor setup that generates an astonishing 1,526 horsepower, accelerates from 0 to 62 km/h in just 1.98 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 223 km/h.

According to Chinese automotive bloggers, Ferrari purchased the SU7 Ultra specifically to evaluate its next-generation electric platform. Prior to this, only Porsche Taycan prototypes had been tested at Ferrari's facilities. While Ferrari is a leader in chassis dynamics and design, its interest likely lies in the advanced thermal management and efficiency of the SU7 Ultra electric platform, key factors in achieving high and sustainable performance in EVs.
This strategic move highlights Ferrari's commitment to mastering the performance of electric supercars.
